This was going to be your year, remember? The year you got serious about social media, the year you updated your website, the year you wrote down a clear and cohesive marketing plan! Remember all those big dreams and good intentions you had back in January? What happened to all those?

Life happened. Work happened. Your business happened. And now here we are headed into the second quarter and you’re still stuck in that same old marketing rut as you were last year. And the year before that. But hey, it’s okay. There’s still time to turn things around. Let’s just call this a new quarter resolution.

Take a look at your marketing. What are you doing right now? Look at every dollar, every minute you spend on marketing and ask yourself one simple question: Is it bringing in revenue? Is it helping you maintain relations with current customers? Is it helping you find new ones? Is it helping you forge new strategic alliances? Hold every cent of your marketing budget and every second of your time accountable. Whatever isn’t bringing in a return should be altered or cut. Period.

And how about what you’re not doing? Did you ever get around to blogging regularly? How about those email newsletters you meant to send? Those pictures you were going to take for your Facebook fan page? That update to your website? What happened to all those plans? It’s not too late to start now.

This is your wake up call, folks. This is the time to stop thinking change can only happen in January. Get out of your rut and do what you know you need to do. If you’re a Roundpeg client, drop by one of our free Press Refresh sessions to take control of your website.
