Typically I avoid political conversations on this blog. I don’t endorse candidates or take sides in political debates. But this is the exception. There are currently two bills before Congress which if approved would censor the Web and impose harmful regulations on American business. The Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House.

I know about these bills and the debate surrounding them because I read discussions and opinions from a wide range of sources, many of them online. Many of which will not exist, or certainly not exist in their current form if either of these bills are passed.

From censoring news sites to stifling economic development, these bills will have a wide-ranging and devastating impact. But don’t take my word for it. Do your own research. Start with this video from Engineadvocacy.org  then find your own evidence, while you can.

The join the movement to end these bills. Add your name to petitions and communication with your congressional leaders. Do it today. https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/. Or the web as you know it may not be here tomorrow.
