I believe in Karma! When you do good things for others, you are making deposits in your “Karma Bank”. It isn’t always a one – to -one relationship, but good things happen to people with good Karma. I was reminded of this the other day, as I rode my bicycle to the office. It is only a five mile ride, and very pleasant on a Saturday, when I have no specific deadlines.
On the way, I stopped at a corner to catch my breath. While there, I noticed a car parked on the side of the road. The occupants were clearly lost, as they studied a map which was clearly not helping. I approached the vehicle, asked if I could help, and directed them toward their destination. As they drove off I knew I had made a small deposit in my Karma bank and felt good, because I was able to help someone else.
Little did I know how soon I would need that deposit!
On my way home, as I was riding up a hill, the chain came loose from my bicycle. As I sat on the side of the road, half way between my office and my home, trying to untangle the mess I had made, a van pulled up with a bicycle on the roof. As the driver jumped out, he explained, he fixed bicycles as a hobby. It only took him a few minutes to put the chain back on my bicycle, pump a bit of air in my tire and send me on my way.
Karma, I believe in Karma! And not just for little things like this. There is Karma in business too! When you reach out, make an introduction or pass on a referral, the Karma rolls back! It may not come from the same person, but sooner or later someone does something nice for you.
Have you made any deposits in your Karma bank lately?
