Have you ever watched geese fly in formation?   The distinctive v-shaped pattern is extremely efficient and a valuable model for small business owners to consider following.

.

Did you know:geesev

  • As each goose flaps its wings it creates an “uplift” for the birds that follow. By flying in a V-formation, the whole flock adds 72% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.
  • When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.
  • The geese flying formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

.

As a small business owner, it is easy to fell isolated and alone.  When you do, take a lesson from the geese.   Find a formation to fly with.  These  strategic partners, other business owners  moving in the same direction  will keep you motivated and inspired with their honking.  Working together, flying in formation, you can share leads and referrals.

And one more lesson from the geese, when one tires, it drops back and allows another to take the lead.   Do the same for your strategic partners.  Do not always wait for someone else to take the lead.  Sometimes you need to fly out in front!
