Five Hundred Marketing Conversations

What do you talk about in 500 marketing conversations

One of my favorite conversations starters is the question “If you could have a conversation with anyone, who would you choose?” Almost everyone has a first choice and maybe a second, but who has hundreds of choices?

As the host of More than a Few Words – marketing conversations for business owners, I have quite a few. I have enjoyed the opportunity to talk with marketing and small business professionals from around the world for more than ten years. And this week, we celebrate conversation #500.

You might think we would run out of things to talk about, but living in a digital world there is always something new. And sometimes it is even fun to go back and take a second look at some topics to see what has changed and what hasn’t.

A marketing conversation with an old friend.

Allison Carter made her first appearnce on More than a Few Words in episode #15.  Comfortable with the written word, she was not as exicted to be sitting in the guest chair talking about herself.

But it wasn’t long before she and I were kicking around ideas and critiques of companies who were doing social media right, and those that were doing it wrong.

And so, to celebrate our 500th episode, I invited Allison to come back to the show to catch up on where she is now, and talk about what has and hasn’t changed since she sat in the cohost chair.

My favorite conversations

In addition to Allison, we have had a few regular guests on the show, including my sales coach Matt Nettleton.

Every time he dropped by with just a little humor and more than a little sarcasm, I learned something new and so did my audience.

Other frequent guests include Jennifer Crawford and Lindsey Anderson. As hosts of their own podcasts, they enjoyed being on the other side of the microphone for a change.

Marketing tips from around the world.

Much like the way blogging was in the early days, the podcasting community really is global. I have enjoyed chatting with guests from around the world.

Although the time difference can be challenging and I am never sure whether to say good morning or good evening, I always enjoy the conversations.
